weatherMasai Mara climate

Without knowing any better, you would probably think that the Masai Mara’s climate would be stiflingly hot. You would be wrong, but we absolutely understand where you would be coming from. It’s typically what you would expect when thinking of Africa. However, the Masai Mara’s altitude causes its climate to be cooler and wetter than you would expect it to be. Situated at an altitude varying from 1500 to 1900 meters, you can expect pleasantly warm daytime temperatures and much cooler nights. So, don’t forget to pack a sweater for the early morning game drives.

12-Hours Ticket Validity Rule
The 12-hours validity for the Masai Mara entry tickets (changed from 24-hours since July) remains.

  1. One ticket is valid for entries from 6am to 6pm per day.
  2. Visitors staying at Mara Siria Camp do not have to pay entrance tickets for their whole stay at the camp. Guests only need to buy their entrance tickets when going on game drives.
  3. The tickets can only be bought cashless via M-Pesa or Credit Card at the park gate.
  4. Guests that arrive and depart to the camp by air receive a two hour transit ticket, issued at the gate, as they head to the airstrip.

We understand that these changes are significant, but we also believe that all guests will benefit from less traffic in the Masai Mara National Reserve. This will ultimately lead to more exclusive wildlife experiences and to a better protection of the environment and wilderness of Kenya.

More Information about the entrance fees at the Mara Triangle can be read here.
